Maintenance and technical

Line maintenance today, space for considerably more

Two maintenance organisations work the field, an An-124 can be handled on it, and there is over a square kilometre of land beside the aeronautical infrastructure looking for an operator. What RKT offers an MRO tenant is room and access rather than a finished industrial park.

On the field

Who maintains aircraft here

Both organisations below are established at RKT. Approach them directly for capability, approvals and pricing.

BCT Aviation Maintenance

Line maintenance and managed parking

The UK-based organisation runs line maintenance at RKT together with its Managed Parking storage product. RKT is one of only two Managed Parking locations it operates worldwide — the other is Shannon.

Global Jet Technic

GCAA CAR 145 line station

A UAE GCAA CAR 145 organisation with line stations across the country — Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Maktoum and Ras Al Khaimah.

What the field takes

Aircraft acceptance and technical capability

The figures that decide whether a job can come here at all. Confirm the current position with the operations desk before you commit an aircraft.

Aircraft ceiling

Full facilities for aircraft up to and including the Antonov An-124 on the cargo side. A Boeing 747 is accepted when positioning empty for positioning and overhaul.

Hangarage

Hangar space exists on the field. The airport's own publications describe hangar facilities available up to A320 class with prior permission, while the AIP simply records hangar and repair facilities for visiting aircraft as available. No capacity figure is published — ask before you plan a hangar input.

Pavement

Runway 16/34, 3,760 m × 45 m asphalt at PCR 604/F/D/W/T. The general aviation apron is concrete at PCR 1840/R/D/W/T, the strongest pavement on the field alongside stand 5.

Ground support

Aircraft tugs, air start unit, ground power, passenger stairs for aircraft up to Boeing 747, toilet service units, a runway friction tester and a FOD sweeper. There is no de-icing capability and no clearing requirement — the field is available in all seasons.

Fuel

Jet A-1 only, H24, 1,750,000 litres of storage. The fuel supplied contains no anti-icing inhibitor. Oil is not stocked and needs 72 hours' notice.

Aircraft recovery

Removal of a disabled aircraft is the responsibility of the aircraft operator. The airport declares no recovery capability of its own — plan for it in your own contingency.

The land offer

Over a square kilometre, beside the runway

This is the real proposition. RKT is not selling you an existing hangar bay; it is offering serviced land with airside access and free-zone potential, in an emirate whose economy is roughly a third manufacturing.

  • Over 1,000,000 m² of land adjacent to the aeronautical infrastructure, with free-zone potential
  • A corporate aviation precinct of over 500,000 m² served by a Code C taxiway
  • An H24 aerodrome with customs, immigration and security around the clock
  • RAKEZ industrial zones at Al Ghail, Al Hamra and Al Hulaila within the same emirate for supply-chain and workshop space
  • No aircraft noise restrictions in place, which matters for engine runs and test schedules

Plot plans, utility provision, zoning status, lease terms and free-zone structuring are handled case by case and issued in writing. They are not published, and we would rather quote your actual footprint than a generic rate.

What a tenant gets

The practical package

Airside access

Code C taxiway access to the corporate aviation precinct, direct to a runway that takes anything up to an An-124.

An uncongested field

No slot queue and no noise restrictions. Aircraft can be positioned and returned to service without bidding for a window.

Storage as a product

Aircraft storage is already a live business here through BCT's Managed Parking. Terms, security and environmental conditions come from the operator.

A two-step licence path

A lease from the airport, plus an activity licence from the RAK Department of Civil Aviation. Both need to be in place before you operate — start them in parallel.

Line maintenance and storage are what is established here today. If you need base maintenance, continuing airworthiness management or a wider technical operation at RKT, that is exactly the conversation the land offer exists for — bring it to the commercial office rather than assuming it already exists on the field.

Commercial office

What we will send rather than publish

  • Site plan, plot sizes, utility provision, zoning and free-zone status
  • Lease terms, minimum period and rates against your actual footprint
  • Managed parking and storage tariffs, security and environmental conditions, and minimum term
  • Current hangar availability and the aircraft types that can be accommodated today

Commercial office

Route development, advertising, retail, office space and land enquiries are handled by the same team.

What to send with a first enquiry

  • Company name, a named contact and an official mailing address
  • Company credentials — trade licence, ownership and relevant track record
  • A short business plan for what you intend to operate here
  • What you need, in square metres or by format, and for how long
  • Anything else that would help us answer quickly

Enquiries go to the airport's commercial team. Nothing is reserved, allocated or priced until we have replied in writing.

Technical figures on this page are published for planning only. Confirm current pavement, acceptance and facility data against the UAE AIP and with the operations desk before committing an aircraft or a project.
