Your journey
Everything you need before you fly
Check-in, security, passport control, baggage, assistance and travelling with children — each stage has its own page. Start with the one you are in.
Before you set off: two buildings, not one
The walk here is short — no internal train. But departures and arrivals are in separate buildings, with no transfer between them.
- DEPDeparture Terminal
- Check-in, tax free validation, passport control, security and the departure lounge. The mosque sits beside the departure car park.
- ARRArrival Terminal
- Passport control, baggage reclaim, customs and the arrivals hall with its duty free and car rental desks. A separate building with its own car park.
Drive to the building you actually need.
Before you leave the house
Three things worth a minute
Most of what goes wrong on the day can be settled the day before. These three come up most often.
Check the flight, not the clock
Departure times move. The live board is the airport's own status for every flight on the day, updated continuously.
Ask your airline about the bag
Allowances, excess charges, seat selection and name changes are set by the carrier that issued your ticket. The airport cannot change any of them.
Arrange assistance in advance
Wheelchair and mobility assistance is requested through your airline when you book, and confirmed with the airport ahead of the day.
The journey in full
Pick the stage you are at
Each page covers one stage in detail, and says plainly where something has not been published rather than guessing at it.
Departing
When to arrive, how check-in and passport control run, what security will take off you, and what is open once you are airside.
Arriving
Passport control, baggage reclaim, UAE customs allowances and what waits for you on the other side of the arrivals door.
Transit and transfer
How a connection works at a point-to-point airport with two separate buildings, and what self-transfer really asks of you.
Baggage rules
Your allowance belongs to your airline. What the airport will and will not accept, restricted items, and delayed, damaged or lost bags.
People of Determination
Mobility assistance, wheelchairs, the ambu-lift, medical equipment and how to arrange help before you travel.
Families and children
Pushchairs and car seats, feeding and changing, getting a child through security, and unaccompanied minors.
Ask your airline first
Fares, allowances, seat selection, name changes, delays, cancellations, missing bags and special assistance requests are all handled by the airline that issued your ticket. The airport cannot change them.
Talk to someone
If something is not covered here
The Duty Officer is on the field around the clock and is the right first call on the day of travel. Anything about your ticket, your allowance or your seat belongs with your airline.

Times and allowances on this page are published for planning. Rules set by airlines, UAE Customs and the immigration authorities change without notice — confirm the detail that matters to your trip before you travel.
