Transit and transfer at RKT
Ras Al Khaimah is a point-to-point airport, not a hub. Almost every flight here starts or ends here, arrivals and departures are in separate buildings, and there is no transfer desk airside. Connections are possible — but read this before you book two flights that meet here.

Before you book a self-transfer
If your two flights are on separate tickets, they are two separate journeys. You will leave the airport between them, which means you have to be admissible to the UAE, and if the first flight is late nobody is obliged to re-book you on the second.

Which one is yours
The whole answer depends on how your ticket was issued. Check your boarding pass and your bag tag: if the tag shows your final destination, you are in the first case.

One ticket, bags checked through
Your airline is responsible for moving you and your baggage onto the next flight and will tell you what to do on arrival. Do not collect baggage that is tagged to your final destination. Because the airport does not operate a transfer desk, confirm with the airline before you fly that the connection is genuinely through-checked at RKT — not every carrier pairing is.

Separate tickets, or different airlines
You are self-transferring. Clear passport control, collect your baggage, pass customs, leave the Arrival Terminal, go to the Departure Terminal, and check in again from the beginning as though you had arrived from home. That includes the full check-in cut-off, passport control and security a second time.
How much time to leave
The airport does not publish a minimum connection time, so there is no official number to plan against. What is fixed is the other end of it: check-in for your onward flight closes one hour before it departs, and if you are self-transferring you have to be through immigration, at the belt, out of one building and checked in at the other before then. Treat a same-day self-transfer as tight and an overnight one as comfortable.

Self-transfer means passing immigration. Whether you can, and whether you need a visa arranged in advance, is decided by the federal authorities and depends on your nationality. Check the official source before you book two tickets that meet here.

What is open, and what is not
The terminals are small and honest about it. The essentials run continuously; the things a hub would give you are not here.

- No airside transfer desk and no airside connection between the two terminal buildings
- No transit hotel, sleeping rooms or shower facilities are published at the airport
- No left-luggage or baggage storage service is currently published
- No airline lounge access is sold at the door — lounge use is arranged through your airline
If you need any of these, ask the Duty Officer before your travel date rather than on the day. Hotels in Ras Al Khaimah are twenty minutes away and a long connection is usually better spent there.
Operating crew
Crew clearance and the General Declaration
Different process, published here because crew often land looking for it. Ground Services prepares the General Declaration from crew identity card particulars.

On departure, all operating crew must be physically present at the airport and hand over their identity card with the flight details.

The General Declaration takes the airport's operational stamp and is presented to Immigration together with the arrival GD showing the UAE entry stamp.

On arrival, crew hand over the arrival GD and their identity cards for crew clearance.

No corrections, alterations or overwriting are accepted on a General Declaration.
- 05
An exit stamp from the Immigration Department at the station of origin must be on the GD. Where the flight originates at a military airport with no immigration authority, the stamp of that station's Operations Department is required instead.

The GD must show the correct routing and dates, and every crew member must carry a valid company ID at all times.

All crew clear immigration together. If a crew member stays back or arrives ahead of the others, their details must be provided in advance so airport passes can be arranged.

The Duty Officer is on the field around the clock and is the right first call on the day of travel. Anything about your ticket, your allowance or your seat belongs with your airline.
Ask your airline first
Fares, allowances, seat selection, name changes, delays, cancellations, missing bags and special assistance requests are all handled by the airline that issued your ticket. The airport cannot change them.
