Everything else in the terminals

Wi-Fi, prayer rooms, the baggage wrapping centre, the nurse on duty and the numbers that are actually answered. Ras Al Khaimah is a compact airport, so most of this is within sight of where you are standing.

At the airport

Staying connected

Free Wi-Fi

Free wireless internet covers both terminal buildings, with no charge and no voucher. The network has been published as “RAK International Airport”, though the airport has not restated the current name — if it does not appear, ask at the information desk.

Mobile coverage

Both du and Etisalat provide 4G coverage inside the Arrival and Departure Terminals, so a local eSIM works from the moment you land.

Power

The airport does not publish where charging points are. Arrive with a charged phone if your boarding pass lives on it.

Prayer and quiet

There is a prayer room in each of the two terminal buildings. There is also a mosque next to the departure car park, on the landside, which is open to people seeing passengers off as well as to travellers — useful if you have arrived early with family. The Business Lounge has its own mosque for eligible passengers.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted inside the airport premises. Designated smoking rooms are provided in both terminals; there is no other indoor exception, including for heated tobacco and vapour products.

At the airport

Medical, assistance and policing

First aid

A nurse is on duty at the airport and ambulances are available on the field. For anything urgent, approach any member of airport staff rather than looking for a room.

Reduced mobility

Wheelchairs, an ambu-lift for boarding and disembarking, and accessible toilets are provided. Request assistance through your airline when you book so that it is on the handling sheet.

Airport police

Airport police are on duty 24 hours. Customs, Immigration and Special Branch Police are also on the field around the clock.

At the airport

Baggage services

Ras Al Khaimah applies its own baggage acceptance standard at check-in, which has been in force since March 2019 and is stricter than many travellers expect.

01

Baggage wrapping centre

The airport runs a baggage wrapping centre in the terminal, at a nominal charge. It also sells approved cardboard boxes for repacking anything that will not otherwise be accepted.
02

The flat-surface rule

Every bag needs at least one flat surface before it will be accepted. Round, soft or irregular items must be repacked into an approved box.
03

No rope, no string, no bundling

Baggage secured with rope or string will not be accepted, and two items taped or wrapped together will be refused as one piece. Use strong tape on a single item.
04

Maximum dimensions

90 cm long by 75 cm high by 60 cm wide. Anything larger will not be accepted at check-in, and excess baggage has to be repacked before it is loaded.

Lost property

The airport keeps a Lost and Found store. For an item left in the terminal, or a bag that did not arrive, contact the Duty Officer at the Departure Terminal — the desk is staffed around the clock. If the bag was checked in and did not appear on the belt, the claim belongs to your airline: report it before you leave the reclaim hall so the file is opened with the flight still fresh.

Money and tax

Planet operates the UAE Tourist Refund Scheme and its validation counters are in Departures, opposite the check-in desks — go there before you check your bags in. The airport does not publish the location of an ATM or a bureau de change in either terminal, so do not plan on changing money here.

Numbers that get answered

Published in text, not as images. Every address and number below can be copied, dialled or searched — which was not true of the site this one replaces.

Not published yet

We only publish what the airport has actually confirmed. The items below are genuinely not documented anywhere, and we would rather say so than guess.

Ask at the information desk, or call the switchboard on +971 7 207 5200.
  • Whether there is an ATM or currency exchange in either terminal, and where.
  • Left luggage or luggage storage, and whether it exists at all.
  • Baby-change and family rooms, a children's play area and water fountains.
  • Lost property opening hours, retention period and how to claim remotely.
  • The exact location of the baggage wrapping centre and what it charges.
  • The current Wi-Fi network name, any time limit and the connection procedure.
