Airport signs private aviation complex agreement at the Dubai Airshow

An agreement with Falcon Executive Aviation covers a VVIP terminal, an 8,000 m² hangar and a dedicated apron on the field, with construction set at about fifteen months and an opening targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and Falcon Executive Aviation, part of Alex Group Investment, agreed at the November 2025 Dubai Airshow to develop a dedicated private aviation complex at the airport. The complex is designed around a 1,500 m² VVIP terminal with a Royal lounge and four VVIP lounges, an 8,000 m² multi-purpose hangar able to take ultra-long-range jets with maintenance capability, and roughly 9,000 m² of apron and aircraft parking.

The design allocates a dedicated helipad and space for eVTOL operations, and sets environmental targets: LEED Gold, 35 % of energy offset by solar generation, fully electric ground support equipment, sustainable aviation fuel capability and net-zero operational emissions.

The complex is not open. Business aviation at the airport continues to be handled from the existing FBO in the passenger terminal and by the second licensed handling agent on the field.

    RKT passes one million passengers for the first time

    1,000,303 passengers in the 2025 calendar year, 51 % above 2024, with flights up 37 % and sixteen scheduled international destinations.

    The airport handled 1,000,303 passengers in 2025, its first calendar year above a million and half as many again as the 639,300 carried in 2024. Scheduled international destinations reached sixteen, up 14 % on the year, across India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Egypt. Net profit was reported up 29.4 %.

    The result puts the airport past the annual terminal capacity it published for years, which is the reason a larger terminal is under construction rather than a marketing ambition.

  2. Advanced air mobilityPlanned — subject to certification

    Air-taxi memorandum names the airport as one of four vertiport sites

    RAKTA, Joby Aviation and Skyports Infrastructure signed a memorandum of understanding to design, develop and operate the emirate's first air-taxi network, with phase one construction from early 2026 and service targeted for 2027.

    The memorandum was signed in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. Four initial vertiport sites are named: Al Marjan Island, Jebel Jais, Al Hamra and Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. The framework covers site identification, design, development and operation, and the vertiports are designed to serve conventional helicopters as well as eVTOL aircraft.

    The Joby aircraft carries a pilot and four passengers at up to 321 km/h and is all-electric. No eVTOL type certificate and no UAE commercial air-taxi operating approval exists yet, so every date attached to the programme is a target and no service is bookable.

    Flight academy opens registrations for its base at the airport

    Intercontinental Aviation Academy GCC established its primary training base at RKT and opened registrations on 1 March 2025, with the first cohort announced for September 2025.

    The academy's UAE flight base is at Ras Al Khaimah, with HADID International Services taking a 50 % stake alongside Intercontinental Aviation Enterprise, announced at the Arab Aviation Summit in 2025. The academy describes its training fleet as Diamond DA40 and DA42.

    The fleet choice is the reason the base works here: those Diamond types run diesel engines on Jet A-1, the fuel the airport already supplies, where classic training aircraft would need avgas.

Working with the airport on a story

The Public Relations Office issues releases and handles all filming and photography on airport property. Media access is by pass, and the pass has to be arranged before you arrive.
