Three ways to trade here

The airport leases retail space in three formats, long or short term. Which one suits you depends on how much of your own fit-out you want to bring.

An existing shop area

Take a unit that is already built and trading-ready. The fastest route in, and the one that suits a proven concept and a short season.

Space for your own kiosk

Floor space for a retailer's own kiosk or cart, in the concourse. Suits a compact format, a brand with a travel-retail unit already designed, or a trial before a full unit.

An area primed for build-out

A shell area prepared for a custom build. The longest lead time and the most control over the finished store.

Unit sizes, rates, minimum terms, fit-out rules, trading hours and the current availability list are quoted against a specific enquiry rather than published. Ask, and it comes back in writing.

Offices

Airside and landside

Office space is available on both sides of the security line. Which side you need depends on whether your staff have to reach an aircraft.

Airside offices

For handling agents, maintenance organisations, operators and anyone whose work reaches the apron. Every member of staff needs an airport pass, and drivers need an airside driving permit.

Landside offices

For administration, sales, freight forwarding and back-office functions that do not need apron access. No pass is required for landside-only staff.

The two-step dependency worth planning for

A lease from the airport is not on its own enough to trade. A new company also needs an activity licence from the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Civil Aviation, which regulates civil air transport activity in the emirate. Start both processes in parallel — leaving the licence until after the lease is signed is the most common way to lose a month.
